Instantly recognizable, the Rose of Sharon is not actually related to roses, but rather is part of the hibiscus family and originated in China several thousand year ago. Because of this, it is often called the "Chinese hibiscus". So, it seems that in at least one instance Mr. Shakespeare was incorrect...this rose by any other name is still not a rose.
