Starfish have eyespots on the tip of each arm, which can detect light and dark, giving them a rudimentary view of their surroundings. They don't have a brain, but they have a complex nervous system. Instead of blood, they use a water vascular system to pump sea water through their body and feet. Starfish eat by pushing their stomachs out through their mouths to consume prey like clams and mussels, then retracting them back in.
